Yoga Sol Kids Spring, 2019 Registration

Young Budding Yogis (co-ed) 

Ages 3-5-  Saturdays 11:30am-12:15pm 5/4-6/15 with Rene Biemer CYT Little Flower Yoga, 7 classes, $160.

Ages 4-6 Tuesdays 4:45-5:30pm 4/30- 6/11 with Rajni Wint CYT Little Flower Yoga, 7 classes, $160.

These classes offer a balanced yoga class that meet the playful and exploratory needs of a 3-6 year old. Focus will be on strength, balance and flexibility, as well as mindfulness and breath techniques–tools for self-regulation that foster an understanding of how body and mind are connected and nurture a positive self-image. 

Introduction to Meditation and Relaxation 
(Meditation and Relaxation for ages 9-14, co-ed)

Wednesdays, 3:30-4:15pm, 5/1- 6/12with Kristy Cohen CYT- Little Flower Yoga, 7 classes $160.

This class will introduce students to basic yoga movement, breath work, meditation and relaxation techniques that promote coping skills and nurture a connection to their own inner calm. Those who have experience with yoga, are interested in meditation and relaxation and can sit with eyes closed for up to 5 minutes are best suited for this class. 

Budding Yogis
 (Yoga and Mindfulness for ages 7-9, co-ed) 

Mondays, 4-4:45pm, 4/29- 6/10 (no class 5/27) with Rajni Wint, CYT,  Little Flower Yoga, 6 classes $140.

This fun and playful class will encourage your child’s self-expression as well as building social skills. They will develop body awareness through basic yoga poses and acquire the tools for self-regulation and centering through mindfulness techniques. Kids play games, create art projects and practice yoga in a safe and compassionate environment.

Young Warriors 
(Tween Yoga and Mindfulness for Girls ages 10-14)

Thursdays with Cathy Anfiteatro, RYT 3:30-4:30pm 5/2-6/13, 7 classes $160.

Fridays with Rene Biemer, CYT Little Flower Yoga 4:15-5:15pm 5/3-6/14, 7 classes $160.

Tween stress is becoming more widely understood and common. Participating in a yoga practice can help teens relieve this stress, explore who they are, and provide a positive influence of themselves and their bodies for the rest of their lives. 

Tween yoga classes will offer tools to guide students in self exploration, provide ways to handle stress, anger, anxiety, depression and other challenges facing this transitional time from child to teenager.

Join us for an invigorating, warming and energetic vinyasa flow to celebrate the summer solstice. Alexa will guide the class through a juicy and awakening class- with a focus on the solar-plexus chakra. We will step into our own vitality, strength, potential for growth and personal power.

Through fun music, warming asana, pranayama and guided meditation we will increase our energy with the power of the SUN, just in time for the solstice!

In this series Cathy will incorporate her wisdom of Yoga, Birth Doula work and Reiki energy.

Through safe sequences, that are beneficial for pregnancy, Cathy will guide students to utilize your breath and movement (asana)- which are both amazing ways to navigate through both pregnancy and labor! 

Practicing yoga while pregnant: -improves sleep -reduces stress and anxiety- increases physical strength and endurance… ALL will be beneficial when you are ready for the fitness challenge of your life- Birthing!

June 28th 7:15-8:45pm- Restorative Yoga with Reiki and Meditation with Alexa

Join us for an 90 minutes of self-care on Friday July 6th 6 -7:30pm to revive the body, mind and spirit through constructive rest. 

Alexa will lead the class through gentle yoga to warm the spine then a series of delicious Restorative poses, and ultimately a guided mediation. You just may be floating home from the studio.

Alexa, a Reiki master, will incorporate healing Reiki energy throughout the class.

Gentle Flow with Lynn Culbertson on Mondays 12:30-1:30pm (starting 10/23). This Yoga class will be open to all. Gentle flow Yoga is a slow flowing yoga class designed for ease of practice while still challenging the body. This class will utilize gentle flowing Asana with props to ensure safety and comfort. Gentle flow will be offer practitioners who may have feared practicing due to injury a safe place to begin practice again or to start a new practice to prevent future injury. 
 

Slow Flow w/ Heather Cummings, Sundays 6-7:15 (starting 11/5) allows beginners and seasonal yogis alike to create their own synchronized dance, while learning poses and how to move, breathe, and stretch between poses. Slow flow allows the practitioner time to evaluate how and when a pose should be modified, due to physical limitations or limitations in experience.  The practitioner also has the time to mentally engage with the body, as it moves through a flow.  The mind and body connection is one of the main goals when practicing Yoga.   All levels of Yoga practitioners can find their personal challenges, as they slowly and mindfully move through a mellow flow. The pace may be slower, but challenges will be present with difficulties to work through. Slow Flow Vinyasa Yoga is a healing dance of moving meditation.

Gem Mitchell

 

Slow Flow for Breast Cancer Survivors (donation class, suggested donation $10), Wednesdays 11am-12pm with Gem Mitchell (starting 10/25). Gem, a 5 year survivor- thriver of advanced breast cancer has integrated many healing methods into her own care and is now cancer-free. She began her 200 hr teacher training while still in treatment and has now completed her 500 hr. The class is designed to create an environment of healing and peace. The first half is asana/ postures, the second half breath work, visualization and meditation. Donations will go towards breast cancer research.

Yin Yoga: New Moon Meditation with Kristy Cohen Sunday August 13th 5-6:15pm

Yin Yoga: Full Moon Meditation on the Eclipses of August, 2017 and Yin Yoga  

In this class we will reflect on the current Cosmic energies available as we weave through calming Yin poses. Learn about the current energies and how you can connect, align and manifest your inner desires.

Yin is synonymous with the words passive, feminine, soft, yielding and surrender, and this is exactly what will be asked of you on the mat. Yin is similar to Restorative Yoga, in that all poses are seated or reclined, but the poses are held for longer periods, typically five-ten minutes, and a soft edge is where we begin each pose. From there we use the breath to deepen the pose and quiet the mind. This approach nourishes the joints, tendons and connective tissue in the physical body, while we connect mind and soul with our higher cosmic self. Yin is simply a mind-body meditation, a mindful dance between stillness and movement.

Kristy Cohen , E-CYT, E-CKYT, CVA has studied Vedic Astrology, Yoga and Healing arts passionately for the past 15 years. She is a certified Vedic astrologer from AstroVed University, class of 2010. She continues her studies through Jyotish conferences at the Arsha Vidya Gurukulum Ashram with Penny Farrow, as well as advanced technique webinars with Marc Boney.  She has an M.S. Ed, is a certified Hatha Yoga instructor for both adults and children since 1999. She is committed to continuing her education in the Vedic sciences through annual workshops and trainings.
