Yoga Sol Kids Fall, 2019

Drop-in Class: Baby and Me 
(newborn- crawler w/ a caregiver) 

Mondays 12:30-1:30 pm

Drop-in- $20/ or class pack

Moms, Dads and caregivers come together in a supportive environments for both themselves and their babies. Poses are focused around the changes taking place postpartum. The babies love the interactive poses with their caregivers and the start of early socialization with the other babies.

These groups offer a balanced yoga classes that meet the playful and exploratory needs of a toddler as well as a preschooler- first grader. Focus will be on strength, balance and flexibility. For the older groups mindfulness and breath techniques will be explored. These are tools for self-regulation that foster an understanding of how body and mind are connected and nurture a positive self-image. 

Budding Yogis 
(Yoga and Mindfulness for ages 7-9,
co-ed)

This fun and playful class will encourage your child’s self-expression as well as building social skills. They will develop body awareness through basic yoga poses and acquire the tools for self-regulation and centering through mindfulness techniques. Kids play games, create art projects and practice yoga in a safe and compassionate environment.

Young Warriors 
(Tween Yoga and Mindfulness for Boys ages 9-13)

Fridays 4:15-5:14pm with Rene Biemer, CYT Little Flower Yoga

8 classes $185. 10/4- 11/22

In today’s high-tech world, it is becoming more of a challenge for boys to focus on the tasks at hand and engage in “tech-free” activities. In this asana (movement) based class, your tween will learn fun and engaging ways to move and strengthen their bodies to release their energy.  Tools for focus and concentration skills will also be taught.  No yoga experience necessary. Led by Rene Biemer, CYT through Little Flower Yoga and RYT, Kripalu Center of Yoga and Health.

Young Warriors 
(Tween Yoga and Mindfulness for
Middle School Girls ) 

Thursdays, 3:30-4:30pm, with Kristy Cohen, CYT Little Flower Yoga

Participating in yoga & mindfulness practices build awareness & understanding of the mind-body connection. As tweens explore who they are, these life long tools help manage stress, emotional regulation, and other challenges facing this transitional time from child to teenager. This class will focus on the importance of self-care rituals through yoga, guided meditations, and mindfulness techniques that support a positive self-image, and build inner strength and emotional intelligence. 

Teen Yoga 
(Yoga and Mindfulness for all genders ages 14-18)

Thursdays 4:45pm-5:45pm, with Alexa Wolkoff LCSW, RYT, Little Flower Yoga guest teacher

4 classes, $95. 10/4-10/28

This class will explore yoga both on and off the mat.

We will look at yoga as a practice for creating greater self-acceptance, alleviating anxiety, increasing body awareness and a sense of personal power, as well as expanding our view of the world around us.

Yoga asana (physical postures), meditation, mindfulness techniques and breath work will be incorporated. All genders and body types are encouraged to join and no prior yoga experience necessary.

These classes offer a balanced yoga class that meet the playful and exploratory needs of a 3-6 year old. Focus will be on strength, balance and flexibility, as well as mindfulness and breath techniques–tools for self-regulation that foster an understanding of how body and mind are connected and nurture a positive self-image. 

Budding Yogis
 (Yoga and Mindfulness for ages 7-9, co-ed)

Participating in a regular mindfulness and yoga practice can help pre- and early teens to become more resilient in the face of stress and anxiety that is  so prevalent in our culture today. Our classes help teens to explore who they are, what matters to them and provide a positive lens through which they can view themselves and their bodies. Mindfulness practices help students explore healthy ways of responding to stress, anxiety, changing bodies, expectations, boundaries and teaches them tools for self-regulation.

Tween yoga classes will offer tools to guide students in self exploration, provide ways to handle the challenges facing this transitional time from child to teenager.

Introduction to Meditation and Relaxation (Meditation and Relaxation for ages 9-14, co-ed- not a movement class)

Wednesdays, 3:30-4:15pm 6 classes 9/26- 10/31, with Kristy Cohen CYT- Little Flower Yoga, $130

  This class will introduce students to basic meditation and relaxation techniques that promote coping skills and nurture a connection to their own inner calm. Those who have experience with yoga, are interested in meditation and relaxation and can sit with eyes closed for up to 5 minutes are best suited for this class. Please note this is not a movement class, simple floor poses will be practiced.

Budding Yogis (Yoga and Mindfulness for ages 7-9, co-ed) 

Mondays, 3:30-4:15pm, 12 classes, 9/17- 12/17 (no class 10/8, 11/12)

Join Erin Trapasso, a certified kids yoga teacher and NYS certified elementary classroom teacher in a program designed to help your child become the best version of him/herself. This fun and playful class will encourage your child’s self-expression as well as building social skills. They will develop body awareness through basic yoga poses and acquire the tools for self-regulation and centering through mindfulness techniques. Kids play games, create art projects and practice yoga in a safe and compassionate environment.

Tween stress is becoming more widely understood and common. Participating in a yoga practice can help teens relieve this stress, explore who they are, and provide a positive influence of themselves and their bodies for the rest of their lives. 

Tween yoga classes will offer tools to guide students in self exploration, provide ways to handle stress, anger, anxiety, depression and other challenges facing this transitional time from child to teenager.
