Introduction to Meditation with Leslie Spalding at Yoga Sol

Leslie T. Spalding has been a Meditation & Mindfulness Facilitator for over 15 years. His wise and caring teaching methods are based on a blend of modern New Age and Eastern spiritual practices. His remarkable experience began in 1992 during his 17 year career as a professional basketball player implementing Meditation, Mindfulness and Visualization to connect with the universe and to improve his athletic performance.Since then, Leslie has been showcased in various Meditation & Mindfulness Speaking Engagements, and Seminar workshops throughout the International region and USA.

Students are taught to connect with their own distinct inner voice that allows them to focus on the present moment and to have a more compassionate view of the world. The astonishing results achieved from this teaching method transcend time as these transformed individuals carry forward their new peaceful existence and mindful presence into society.

For the past 15 years, Leslie has been teaching and coaching in the independent school system (K-12) in the United States. As a teacher of Spanish, physical education, music and sports coach, he educates his students and players with Meditation, Mindfulness, and Visualization techniques. He also leads multiple adult Meditation, Mindfulness, and Visualization workshops throughout the tri-state area. Leslie is also has been a guest facilitator for the Community Mindfulness Project in New Canaan, Connecticut, and founder of the world music band, Sangha Tierra, and the non profit organization In Lak’Ech.

New Classes- One Hour Gentle Flow with Lynn- 12:30 Mondays, Gentle Flow for Breast Cancer Survivors (donation class) w/ Gem on Wednesdays 11am-12pm and Gentle Flow w/ Heather on Sundays 6-7:30

 NEW GENTLE CLASSES starting in October and November!

Gentle Flow with Lynn Culbertson on Mondays 12:30-1:30pm (starting 10/23). This Yoga class will be open to all. Gentle flow Yoga is a slow flowing yoga class designed for ease of practice while still challenging the body. This class will utilize gentle flowing Asana with props to ensure safety and comfort. Gentle flow will be offer practitioners who may have feared practicing due to injury a safe place to begin practice again or to start a new practice to prevent future injury. 

Slow Flow w/ Heather Cummings, Sundays 6-7:15 (starting 11/5) allows beginners and seasonal yogis alike to create their own synchronized dance, while learning poses and how to move, breathe, and stretch between poses. Slow flow allows the practitioner time to evaluate how and when a pose should be modified, due to physical limitations or limitations in experience.  The practitioner also has the time to mentally engage with the body, as it moves through a flow.  The mind and body connection is one of the main goals when practicing Yoga.   All levels of Yoga practitioners can find their personal challenges, as they slowly and mindfully move through a mellow flow. The pace may be slower, but challenges will be present with difficulties to work through. Slow Flow Vinyasa Yoga is a healing dance of moving meditation.

Slow Flow for Breast Cancer Survivors (donation class, suggested donation $10), Wednesdays 11am-12pm with Gem Mitchell (starting 10/25). Gem, a 5 year survivor- thriver of advanced breast cancer has integrated many healing methods into her own care and is now cancer-free. She began her 200 hr teacher training while still in treatment and has now completed her 500 hr. The class is designed to create an environment of healing and peace. The first half is asana/ postures, the second half breath work, visualization and meditation. Donations will go towards breast cancer research.

Yoga Sol Kids Schedule/ Registration Fall, 2017




On-going class, no registration necessary- $20 drop-in- Mondays, 2-3pm with Alexa WolkoffMoms come together in a supportive environments for both themselves and their babies. Poses are focused around the changes taking place postpartum. The babies love the interactive poses with their moms and the start of early socialization with the other babies.

Children will develop body awareness through basic yoga poses and will acquire the tools for self-regulation and centering through mindfulness.

The practice will take place in a safe and compassionate environment.

Tween stress is becoming more widely understood and common. Participating in a yoga practice can help teens relieve this stress, explore who they are, and provide a positive influence of themselves and their bodies for the rest of their lives. Tween yoga classes will offer tools to guide students in self exploration, provide ways to handle stress, anger, anxiety, depression and other challenges facing this transitional time from child to teenager.


TEEN YOGA AND MINDFULNESS  (GIRLS 15-18 YRS)                                                                                     

 Tuesdays, 5-6pm 11 classes, begins 9/26 with Cathy Anfiteatro, RYT 
This class helps teens build the groundwork to live a healthy lifestyle. In this safe and non-competitive space they will find it a complement to their busy academic and extracurricular schedule. It will help connect them with others and get to know themselves better. The class provides a fun, nurturing environment- leaving them refreshed and ready for the challenges of the being a teenager in the modern world.



      Wednesdays, 3:15-4pm 12 classes, begins 9/20 with Argos Gonzalez, CYT Little Flower 

A fun and challenging yoga class that meets tween boys right where they are. Laughter and energy are highly encouraged! The focus is on feeling good in your body and understanding how that leads to feeling good about yourself in every way. The boys build strength, balance and flexibility while they learn breathing and stillness techniques to help calm the senses.

Yin Yoga: New Moon Meditation with Kristy Cohen Sunday August 13th 5-6:15pm

Yin Yoga: Full Moon Meditation on the Eclipses of August, 2017 and Yin Yoga  

In this class we will reflect on the current Cosmic energies available as we weave through calming Yin poses. Learn about the current energies and how you can connect, align and manifest your inner desires.

Yin is synonymous with the words passive, feminine, soft, yielding and surrender, and this is exactly what will be asked of you on the mat. Yin is similar to Restorative Yoga, in that all poses are seated or reclined, but the poses are held for longer periods, typically five-ten minutes, and a soft edge is where we begin each pose. From there we use the breath to deepen the pose and quiet the mind. This approach nourishes the joints, tendons and connective tissue in the physical body, while we connect mind and soul with our higher cosmic self. Yin is simply a mind-body meditation, a mindful dance between stillness and movement.

Kristy Cohen , E-CYT, E-CKYT, CVA has studied Vedic Astrology, Yoga and Healing arts passionately for the past 15 years. She is a certified Vedic astrologer from AstroVed University, class of 2010. She continues her studies through Jyotish conferences at the Arsha Vidya Gurukulum Ashram with Penny Farrow, as well as advanced technique webinars with Marc Boney.  She has an M.S. Ed, is a certified Hatha Yoga instructor for both adults and children since 1999. She is committed to continuing her education in the Vedic sciences through annual workshops and trainings.
